Do you have an extra-deep mattress that refuses to fit a standard cover?
A favourite duvet, doona or quilt that’s just a little larger than usual?
Perhaps a narrow mattress in a campervan or boat, or a beloved lounge that could use a little extra healthy protection.
You’re not alone.
Over the years we’ve learned that homes, and the things we sleep and rest on, come in many shapes and sizes. For those situations, we offer a made-to-measure service for AllerProtect dust mite allergen covers.
And the good news is, it may not be as expensive as you might imagine.
Price guideline
If your mattress, doona or item is a rectangle shape, but simply a little deeper or wider than standard, the cost is usually around $60–$70 more than the closest standard size.
This includes the additional work involved, such as:
- creating your custom pattern
- extra allergen-barrier fabric
- careful sewing and finishing
- administration and preparation.
If we are making more than one item from the same pattern, some of these setup costs can be shared, which makes it more economical per item.
Now and then we are asked to create something a little more bespoke, perhaps an unusual shape, changing depths or a piece that requires a template. In these cases there may be additional costs involved, but we are always happy to discuss what might be possible.
We welcome your enquiry.
Timeframes
All manufacturing is carried out in-house by our New Zealand team, who take great care with each item.
Because custom pieces are individually made, they are placed into a production schedule. Occasionally there may be short delays depending on demand or shipping logistics, but we will always do our best to keep you informed.
When you enquire, we can let you know the expected timeframe for your order.
Fabric and specifications
The specifications used for our custom covers are generally the same as those used for our standard products. Once we understand the item you would like covered, we can advise on the most suitable fabric and any details that may be helpful for that particular piece.
Our aim is simple — to create a well-fitting cover that quietly does its job, helping reduce dust mite allergens and supporting a healthier sleeping or resting environment.
If you’re unsure whether your item can be covered, feel free to reach out. A quick message with the measurements is usually all we need to guide you.
