There is something very satisfying about using natural products to clean our homes.
Firstly using natural products like lemon and vinegar to clean the house is certainly more economical than using chemical based cleaning products.
Secondly, natural cleaning products keep the house hygienic without polluting the indoor environment. In contrast, most home cleaning products available in the market are laden with chemicals that release toxic fumes and may in fact promote growth of bacteria.
At MiteyFresh, we are passionate about offering you natural solutions that make your home a haven from external pollutants.
This is why we have compiled a list of our favourite home cleaning products, which are perfectly safe to use and just as effective as those nasty chemical cleaning products.
Natural Ways of Keeping Your Home Clean
1. Baking soda
Use baking soda to remove stains on your kitchen appliances such as the cooker and oven. Use water to make a thick paste of baking soda. Smear the paste on the appliance. Let the paste remain for a few hours before scraping it off using a wallpaper scraper. Wipe off the residual paste using a damp soft cloth for a shiny kitchen appliance.
2. Vinegar
For tougher stains, spray white vinegar on the appliance and then sprinkle generous quantities of baking soda over it. Allow the mixture to fizz for 30 minutes to an hour, before wiping it clean.
To clean windows, hardwood floors, mirrors and doors add half a cup of white vinegar to the water in your spray bottle. Spray the solution on the surface to be cleaned and wipe with a soft cloth.
3. Lemon
Lemon has fantastic degreasing properties. To clean the tough stains in your kitchen oven, place two cut lemons in a baking dish slightly filled with water in the oven. Keep the oven on for about 30 minutes at a low temperature. The steam from the lemon solution will loosen the grease stuck on the oven walls.
You can also add lemon juice to vinegar or olive oil to clean the kitchen area. Spray the vinegar-lemon solution on your polished wood furniture and wipe clean with a soft cloth.
Besides being powerful at removing stains, mould and mildew, lemon will also leave a fresh scent in the cleaned area.
4. Microfibre cloths
Microfibre cloths are extremely effective at removing dirt, grease, and dust, without the use of cleaning chemicals. You can clean almost your entire house with just water and a microfibre cloth. Microfibre cloths are highly durable and dry fast when washed, which means you can easily re-use them .
